K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 17th of July, took to Twitter and dismissed the reports of the scarcity of water in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The tweets came after director Maruthi shared a report by The Times of India (TOI,) which said, Hyderabad has just 48 days of drinking water left.

Director Maruthi took to Twitter and asked KTR, “Is this TRUE Sir?”

KTR replied to the tweet and said, “That report is not accurate. Once the water from #KaleshwaramProject reaches Yellampalli reservoir (next few weeks), it will ensure that 172 MGD supply to Hyderabad will continue unabated
At the same time, it’s time all citizens realise importance of water conservation and Harvesting (sic.)”

KTR also mentioned, “The drinking water needs of Hyderabad city are also fulfilled by #KaleshwaramProject Hon’ble CM KCR’s vision & persistence in completing the project in 3 years has made sure that Hyderabad will never have a drinking water crisis a la Chennai or other metropolitan cities.”

For the last few days, reports are being published with claims stating Hyderabad has only 48 days of drinking water.

According to reports by the TOI, India Times and Business Insider India, the City is left with a limited amount of drinking water.

The report published by Business Insider India read, “India’s worst ever water crisis might cripple the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad – in the next 48 days.”

Another report by India Times read, “The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) problems refuse to abate as water levels in all the reservoirs are down to precarious levels. In comparison to last year in July, the water levels this year are down by 12 feet.”

KTR dismissed the reports and said, after the water from Kaleshwaram Project reaches the Yellampalli reservoir, Hyderabad will never have water issues.

KTR also advised the public to understand the importance of water, use it judiciously and conserve it.

Stay tuned for further updates.
