In a shocking suicide-muder incident, a seven months old baby boy, died after being burnt.
According to sources, the baby was allegedly set ablaze by his mother in Himayatnagar, Hyderabad, Telangana. Although the incident happened last week, the boy who was undergoing treatment at a hospital succumbed to injuries on the 19th of January.
Reported by the Himayatnagar Police, the couple, Venkatesh and Suvarna, both construction workers, had frequent fights since their marriage. Venkatesh, who was habituated to liquor drinking often came home in a drunken condition and harassed his wife. Even after the birth of their first child R.Kannaiah, Venkatesh did not change his behavior.
Police sources said, after one such fight on January 11, Suvarna doused their child and herself with liquid sanitizer available at their home and set ablaze. They were immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital and then to the Osmania General Hospital, where Kannaiah (seven months boy) died under treatment.
Suvarna, who suffered serious burns in the incident, too is being treated. The Hayathnagar police who booked a case of attempt to murder, section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
have altered it to that of murder and are investigating the matter. Officials said no arrests have been made yet.
