Aiming to vaccinate the entire population of the Telangana in just 2 months, the Telangana Government launched Global Tender initiative.
On the 18th of May, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced Global Tender for procuring 10 million doses of the Wuhan virus or Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination for people of Telangana. According to sources, a short tender to purchase 10 million doses has been issued. The tender document would be uploaded on the official website of the TRS Government on the 21st of May and the last date for receiving the bids is the 4th of June.
The only condition for the supplier is that the total supply of 10 millions doses should be completed within six months period from the issuance of Letter of Intent or the acceptance of the tender. The supplies should be not less than 1.5 million doses per month and within 6 months, the tender filer need to fulfil the demand of 10 million doses. In addition, the supply of the vaccination should be as per the guidelines issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR.) Also the supplies have to be initiated within 7 days of release of purchase order and need to be completed within 30 days.
Those bidders offering items requiring special cold storage condition should either have their own cold chain transporting system or proper contract with an agent having facilities to transport drugs under cold chain norms from the manufacturing unit to respective warehouse of the corporation as mentioned in purchase order.
The basic idea behind the Global Tender is to vaccinate the entire population of Telangana in 6 months.
The initiative came a day after the Telangana High Court reviewed the COVID-19 situation of Telangana and asked the TRS Government to submit a detailed report.
The Court also asked the KCR led Telangana Government to strategise how they would handle the third wave of the Wuhan virus.
