Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana, addressed the house of the 2023 Telangana Budget Assembly session, on the 3rd of February.
During her address, Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that the standard of living in the villages of Telangana has improved, which is a good example of other villages in the country.
In her address to both houses of the State Assembly at the Assembly Hall in Public Gardens, she gave a speech for the first time in the past two years. It is to be noted, since 2019, this is the first time that Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan is addressing the joint sitting of the Telangana Assembly Session.
However, due to the intervention of the Telangana High Court, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) invited Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan to address the joint sittings. She received a warm welcome from the BRS leaders at the Assembly Hall.
Later, marking the start of the Telangana Budget Session, Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan started her speech with Kaloji’s poem. Stating that the Government is continuously working for the development of Telangana, the State Governor said that the KCR led Government has overcome many challenges and increased the 24 hours and per capita consumption of electricity to a record level.
Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan said, “In the past there were fights for water, now we are providing water for 24 hours by restoring the ponds with Mission Kakatiya; we provide good water to every house through Mission Bhagiratha and completed the Kaleshwaram project in record time.”
Praising the Dalit Bandhu Scheme of the BRS Government, Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that the Government has brought the Dalit Bandhu for the development of Dalits. The Government also increased the Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation to 10%and the Thandas were converted into Panchayats. The State Governor also supported the poor with Asara pensions and provided life insurance through Netanna Bima Scheme. They also implemented a 15% reservation in wine shops for the welfare of gouds, cancelled the tax on palm and its trees providing free electricity for up to 250 units for laundry and salons. The Government of Telangana also implemented 33% reservation for women in civil police jobs, a financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,116 to girls under the Kalyana Lakshmi and the Shaadi Mubarak schemes.
Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan concluded her speech with applause for the ruling K. Chandrashekar Rao Government, which brought the necessary progress in the agriculture, health and education sector in Telangana.
