Telangana: Wine Shops To Remain Close In Warangal Today Due To GWMC Elections

On the 28th of April, the Commissioner of Police of Warangal district issued an order to close all wine and liquor shops in the district of Telangana.

Wine shops would remain shut in the Greater Warangal Municipal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) in the wake of the upcoming local body election.  The shops would remain shut rom 5:00 P.M., today to 5:00 P.M., on the 30th of April.

Tarun Joshi, the Commissioner of Police of Warangal has issued the orders pertaining to the closure of wine shops in GWMC limits. Also, wine shops will be closed on the 3rd of May in the view of the counting of votes.  The issued orders read, “Those violating the orders will be punished severely,”

The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is going to the poll on April 30. There are around 66 wards in the GWMC limits. Along with Warangal, Khammam Municipal Corporation and five municipalities — Achampet, Siddipet, Nakrekal, Jadcherla and Kothur are going to the polls.

Parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Indian National Congress (INC) are in fray to contest the elections.

The results of the elections wouid be announced on the 3rd of May.
