A committee constituted by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 2nd of October, conducted a meeting with the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) trade unions.
The leaders of the RTC trade unions announced they would protest against the TRS Government and called for a strike. The RTC is demanding it be merged with the Telangana Government.
On the 1st of October, the TRS constituted a committee, which scheduled a meeting with the leaders of the union leaders.
Somesh Kumar, the head of the committee, met the RTC leaders. However, the meeting failed as the RTC leaders were not ready to cancel the strike scheduled on the 5th of October.
Speaking about the meeting, the union leaders said they did not get any assurance from the Government, due to which, they are sticking to their decision of going on strike from the 5th of October.
The RTC union leaders put forward a total of 26 demands, including safety and welfare schemes for the workers.
The TRS committee said they are in talks with the RTC union leaders and employees and will work on addressing their demands.
Though the TRS committee urged the RTC employees to continue working in view of Dussehra, the employees are expected to go on an indefinite strike from the 5th of October.
