Recently, a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) GAfter t delegation submitted a memorandum to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
The delegation submitted the report on the evening of the 18th of November, Thursday. The TRS delegation comprised of Ministers like Mr. K.T.Rama Rao, Mr. T. Harish Rao, Mr. S. Niranjan Reddy, Mr. Mohd Mahmood Ali, Mr. A. Indrakaran Reddy, Mr. V. Srinivas Goud, Ms. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Mr. Satyavathi Rathod, Mr. Koppula Eeshwar, Mr. Puvvada Ajay and others.
The delegation met with Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad and submitted the memorandum.
In the memorandum, the TRS delegation informed Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan that harvesting of paddy, being cultivated in about 62.13 lakh acres in Kharif (Vaanakalam) 2021-22 crop season, has started across Telangana and farmers were also gearing up for sowing paddy crop in the upcoming Rabi (Yasangi) season. The TRS delegation said, “Therefore, there is an urgent need to declare to the farmers whether FCI will procure the rice from Telangana in Rabi 2021-22 season and to what extent.”
The memorandum read, “The pro-farmer initiatives of the TRS government led to noteworthy progress in gross paddy sown area of over 109 per cent in Kharif and over 116 per cent in Rabi during the period from 2018-19 to 2020-21. There has also been an enormous increase in productivity of paddy.”
The TRS delegation urged Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to impress upon the Union government to direct the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to procure paddy from Telangana State
It is to be noted, the paddy procurement issue has now become a major matter in Telangana. The ruling TRS Government and the opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are protesting against each other regarding the same.
