TSRTC Strike – Telangana Police Shut Down Begumpet Metro Station

On the 21st of October, the Telangana Police shut down the Begumpet Metro Station in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The Telangana Police deployed a huge police force to maintain peace in the State.  Tight security was arranged area near Pragati Bhavan, Telangana.

Revanth Reddy, the Working President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana, asked the State Government to resolve the issues with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC.)

Reddy said if the State Government would not resolve the ongoing matter with the TSRTC staff, who are on strike, the INC would protest outside Pragati Bhavan on the 21st of October.

The Telangana Police took all the possible measures to control the situation, including shutting down the Begumpet Metro Station, which is the nearest Metro station to Pragati Bhavan.  The Police also house arrested Revanth Reddy and other INC leaders ahead of the protest.

The Police also intensified the checking on the way to the Chief Minister’s camp office, which resulted in a heavy traffic jam between Secunderabad and Begumpet.

The TSRTC employees started the strike against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on the 5th of October, to get their pending demands fulfilled by the TRS Government.

However, the TRS refused to accept the demands of the TSRTC staff, declaring the strike illegal.  The TSRTC strike entered its 17th day on the 21st of October.
