Questions that upset mom-to-be Kareena

After the announcement of welcoming a new member to the family soon, by Saif Ali Khan addressing his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan’s pregnancy, people struck gold on the levels of curiosity and have been asking some really odd questions to the star. No matter what events Kareena attends she is stormed by questions about the new development in her life. Where some questions are harmless and silly there are few that have left the star very upset.

When Kareena, on Monday attended the Global Citizen India campaign launch held in Mumbai, the actress shared the questions she has been asked since her pregnancy was announced. The question that left her most upset was, ‘Is it a boy or a girl?’

“Wherever I go these days, there’s just one question asked, which I think is quite intrusive but still I am asked, both me and Saif: ‘Is it a boy or is it a girl? Have you found out?’ and I am like, ‘Excuse me? What difference does it make?’ I am a girl child. I would love to have a girl. What is the difference? I think I have done probably more for my parents and my family than a son would,” said Kareena.

She added, “Firstly, this is very intrusive and at this point, I don’t think you should be asking me this question. But coming back to it, I think we are still in a nation where we have been asked, ‘Oh, you’re getting married! Are you still going to work? Oh, you’re having a child! Are you still going to work?’ These questions upset me.”

Kareena thanked Hugh Evans, the co-founder of the Global Poverty Project and Global Education and leadership Foundation Chairman Shiv Khemka for allowing her to voice out her opinions.

“When they wrote to me if I would like to be part of this initiative, I think my first reaction was as an expectant mother on this journey, nothing would make me happier to be part of the movement that supports gender equality. Not just for me or my child but for the millions and millions of children out there. All those people who think that a girl child is considered a taboo or considered not equal enough, not up to a man, but you must know a woman is probably the only soul that has the right to carry a soul in her and that is truly something that is a joy. Thank you, Mr Evans and Mr Khemka for allowing me for at this special point in my life to lend my voice. I hope it makes a difference,” Kareena concluded.
